Hello Everyone,
I’m Elon Taylor the founder of Taylor Craft Production. A man who shares a name with the great Elon Musk – one of the most prolific masterminds of our generations. Although this holds a lot of weight, I’m actually a very shy man! I sit in my workshop for hours crafting art using pre-biblical technic – carpentry.
The complete opposite to Elon Musk who uses technology, scientific engineering and precious metals to create Teslas and rockets. However, I find that with everything going on in the world some of us are reverting back to tradition and artforms that feel slightly more meaningful and encompassing (stayed tuned we will dive into tradition vs modernisation in my other newsletters). Anyway to finalise my thoughts about sharing the name with Elon, one mutual quality is that we both invent and want to change the world with our engineering and products.
About Taylor Craft Productions
Taylor Craft Productions is a family-run workshop with over 40 years of experience working with wood. Our focus is creating meaningful, personalized memorials for people and pets. Death is difficult to face, and we aim to make the process of remembering a loved one more personal and comforting.
How did it begin?
The journey started when I experienced a loss of a loved one. Wanting to give my sister a heartfelt memorial, I searched for a plaque but was disappointed by the lack of personalization in the available designs. At the time we couldn’t afford a stone, but I didn’t want a standard cross, that option felt very generic. So, I was determined to try to create something special, I crafted a unique memorial cross which was met with admiration. Soon, others began requesting personalised designs for their loved ones' graves.
Fast forward 10 years, and after much refinement, my memorial designs have become highly sought after for their quality and craftsmanship.
What makes us so unique?
We specialize in the interim period between burial and setting a permanent headstone — a time when families are especially vulnerable. Too often a generic grave marker is offered during this period. We provide a handcrafted, elevated alternative: oak crosses, taller proportions, richer finishes, and a wide range of personalization options. Every piece is made by hand with attention to detail and respect for the person it commemorates.
What it means to me and team?
Every memorial cross is more than just a personalised piece—it’s a tribute to the memory of someone who made a profound impact on others. Each cross is crafted with great care and attention to detail, ensuring it reflects the love and memories it represents.
